If you have been stuck at all with your training you NEED to keep reading this.

If you go to the gym on any given day you will usually see the same people, generally doing the same workouts, and getting the same results (aka NO Results).

I know how frustrating this can be. I experienced it myself when I was first starting into BodyBuilding many years ago. I did EVERYTHING right (Or so I thought).

I trained my BUTT off, I got plenty of rest, I always changed my program, I got stronger, BUT I never got any bigger. NADA. And there is a reason why.

It’s the SAME REASON that people do hours of Cardio to get lean (dumb), tons of sit ups to get abs (waste of time).

You see it doesn’t matter your goal, if you want to Build Muscle, Lose Fat, it all comes down to ONE BIG THING.

That one thing is NUTRITION.

Sad but true Nutrition is the #1 thing that is going to change your results PERIOD.

I can’t stress it enough how important this is for CHANGING your body.

We see it all the time with our Rippedin42 program. For example 70% of people that join our program are already working out at least 4 days a week. Think about that. 7 out of 10 of our members are working out 4 days a week but NOT GETTING RESULTS.

Once we get them in my gym the FIRST thing we tackle is their nutrition.

I would sooner see a client miss a workout rather than mess up their Nutrition for the day.

Notice how I don’t say the D word, Diet. The reason is because of a few reasons.

“Diet” seems to be something you do for a short period of time. Well what happens when you stop that diet? You go right back to where you were before, if not even worse! I have seen it happen too often.

The #1 thing you MUST do in order to change your body, health, energy is to change your dietary habits ASAP.

One of the biggest issues with proper nutrition is “What to eat”. I know it is not easy to figure out. It took me years of trial and error figuring out proper nutrition. I put everything I know into Muscle Building Nutrition & Double Your Fat Loss to make it EASY as pie to understand Nutrition depending on your goal.

Another big thing aside from what to eat is how to eat.

I personally hate cooking. I have said this time and time again, I am just not someone who likes to cook, however when I dial it in and want to make gains I get my butt in the Kitchen and start cooking. As well my girlfriend Danielle is a great cook which helps us big time.

One great resource I strongly recommend you check out is Anabolic Cooking. It is one of THE BEST Cookbooks out there and right now it is on sale this week. Regular price is $77 and it’s on sale for $40 Off….this is the LOWEST Dave has ever had Anabolic Cooking available for.

=> Metabolic Cooking On Sale For $37

Here is one of my Favorite Recipes from Anabolic Cooking, Simple, Easy and notice REESE BUTTER CUP lol. That will do it for me anytime .

First thing i always do as soon as I land is go exploring and find a grocery store. Then right after that I find a Starbucks .

I always try to prepare and these days it isn’t hard to find good options. I will say that out of ALL the places I have traveled Kentucky was by far the hardest place to eat clean options wise.

I still remember the look on the waiter when I asked for Scrambeled eggs with nothing else and he brought them loaded with cream and cheese, and I asked for just PLAIN BOILED EGGS and he looked at me like I had 10 heads!

I hate spinach.

I hate salads of all kinds pretty much.

I can eat Spinach with Mango’s, Strawberries and other berries. It’s the only way I can eat Spinach.

However living in Newfoundland we get winter for like 13 months of the year sometimes so fresh spinach and berries isn’t always an option.

However it is ESSENTIAL to eat Spinach as it is by far one of the best foods you can eat. The benefits are huge (read more info on this blog post).

3 Foods You Should Be Eating.

So I need to get spinach, I hate to eat it, I hate cooking, so how do I get it, and lot’s of it?

FREEZE & BLEND IT that’s how.

One of my Rippedin42 Members (Thank you Tanya Martin) shared the freezing spinach concept with me months ago.

The benefits of Freezing your spinach are huge. No More Wasted Spinach from it going bad, no more eating out dated spinach, no more wasting food (I hate wasting food…hate it….for numerous reasons).

So along with Freezing my Spinach I now also BLEND IT and add it to every single protein shake I have. I can’t taste it, I don’t notice, win win situation.

I always have minimum 2 shakes a day.

My first shake is always first thing in the AM before breakfast where I hit it with the following

- Almond Milk (Sugar Free)

- 2 handfuls of frozen mixed berries

- Vanilla protein powder (currently Myofusion)

- 1 Teaspoon of PB2 powdered peanut butter

- 1 Scoop Greens Powder (Currently using Power Greens from Cygen)

- 1-2 Scoops of Optimum Amino Energy

That is my morning shake. I have this almost every single morning and I love it.

I have a similar version that I use as a Post Workout Recovery Shake. I call it “Rob’s Recovery Shake”.

If I get 100 “Likes” on this blog post I will do a full video of exactly what goes in my post workout shake. Trust me it’s awesome!

Give it a try and post your feedback!

I pretty much live off shakes.

I know I know we need food blah blah, the only problem is I hate (can’t) to cook. I live off basic foods like oatmeal, lean meats, eggs, berries etc. Cooking and me don’t get along too well, so I make the best of what I can do.

However one thing I never ever miss is my post workout shake. I plan to go over exactly what I use post workout later this week but for now here is something that everyone should be using in their post workout shakes (and I use it in my AM shake as well before I eat breakfast).

Basic Info On Antioxidants

Help :

Destroy the free radicals that damage cells.

Promote the growth of healthy cells.

Protect cells against premature, abnormal aging.

Help fight age-related macular degeneration.

Provide excellent support for the body’s immune system, making it an effective disease preventative.

Why Are Antioxidants Important?
Studies have shown that antioxidants may offer the best protection your body has against damaging free radicals!

A free radical is an unstable molecule that steals an electron from a stable molecule in order to satisfy its need for repair.
In doing so, this free radical destabilizes the stable molecule and creates another free radical in a vicious chain reaction of cellular destruction.

A single free radical can cause damage to millions of other molecules in you body, preventing your body from functioning properly!
This molecular destruction is continually occurring in your body!

Free radicals attack us from many different environmental sources every day.

Some of which are: alcohol, tobacco, prescription drugs, smoked and barbecued food, harmful chemicals and additives in the foods we eat, sun bathing and pollutants in the air we breath.
They assault your cells, large enzyme complexes, Vitamin C, and DNA.
After age 28, the major source of aging is the production of free radicals.
And with age, the amount of free radicals we produce increases.
Scientists have determined that very large amounts of free radicals accumulated in your body, may significantly shorten your life span.

HEREIN LIES THE IMPORTANCE OF ANTIOXIDANTS!

Studies over the last 20 years have shown that free radical fighters found in a certain group of nutrients, namely antioxidants, can protect against a great many free radical initiated diseases.
Antioxidants extinguish free radicals!

Free Radicals cause oxidation in the blood.
Once oxidation occurs, disease can result.
Antioxidants keep free radicals from causing oxidation in the blood, thus neutralizing disease.
Also, stress, chemical pollution, environmental pollution, and the normal aging process increase the demands put upon the immune system.

Studies indicate antioxidants do more than protect against free radicals; they also stimulate the immune system’s response to help fight existing diseases.

How does this help you get “Bigger, Stronger, Leaner, Faster?”

When we exercise we break down muscle tissue and causes damage in many ways to your body. Exercise is good, the by products of exercise funny enough can be bad (go figure).

Reducing inflammation & reducing free radical damage is some of the most important things you can do post workout! So by having quality berries post workout you will reduce inflammation (also with Carbohydrates post workout), and as well reducing free radical damage.

So now get some berries in ya post workout! Along with helping you recover big time they taste AMAZING!

In two days I will go over EXACTLY what I use in my post workout recovery shake, and it is awesome. Stay tuned!

I am not gonna lie to you, I am pretty much addicted to Reese Peanut Butter Cups, and I have to fight my addiction every day. Sometimes I lose to my addiction, and losing to that addiction makes me oh so happy. However If I lost my battle with Reese Peanut Butter Cups I would be about 300 lbs and very round, mind you I would have a sugar high 24/7, but let’s face it I can’t give fitness advice at 300lbs .

Enter Reese’s Sugar Free

At my gym the other night my trainers informed me of “Reese Sugar Free Peanut Butter Cups” and to me that sounds like heaven! I am pretty stoked to hear about these, they may not be the best things for me but hey I get to eat Reese’s Sugar Free Peanut Butter Cups every week on my treat day which makes things even better.

I know that to get in shape Nutrition is EVERYTHING, I have said this before and I will say it again, Abs are made in the kitchen, but I love chocolate like nothing else, so I am delighted to hear about these. Off to the grocery store I go lol.

Some people joke about how much they love chocolate, but in all honesty I think I could live off chocolate all day long.

This may go back to many many years ago when my dad would randomly bring me home chocolate treats from his work, he worked at a wholesale business, so my love for chocolate started early. Thank you Dad!

I may be a Trainer & Fitness Entrepreneur but I am not one of these guys who loves eating Low Carb and Paleo type diets, I love meats, red wine, and chocolate. That would summarize my diet, however I don’t want to have a heart attack at 40 so I have to limit my indulgences.

I am really hoping that Reese’s Sugar Free will help with my addiction.

As well here is a protein shake recipe that I LOVE

Muscle Building Nutrition Myth #1: Eating Like A Pro Bodybuilder

Let’s face it, your not Jay Cutler or Branch Warren. If you are 275 lbs of pure muscle you don’t need to be taking advice from me.

So my question is this, why are you taking advice and reading articles on guys that weigh 275 lbs of muscle, that use “other” Supplements to aid in their muscle building? Why would you take advice from them? You shouldn’t!

Muscle Building Nutrition Myth #2: The More Protein You Eat The More Muscle You Will Build

This is a tricky one. Yes protein is required to build muscle, always is and always will be, BUT just eating more and more protein won’t always cause you to keep building muscle. There are MANY other factors that contribute to building lean rock hard muscle.

If you are one of these people that think taking a scoop of protein post workout will solve all your muscle building problems, you couldn’t be further from the truth.

Protein is important, but far more important is the PROPER COMBINING of Proteins with other foods. Protein timing is the key to keep building muscle & losing fat (yes this can be done at the same time).

Muscle Building Nutrition Myth #3: More Calories = More Muscle

I used to be one of those bulky guys you see in the gym. I used to eat 4000-5000 calories a day, I read everything the pros told me, I followed it to the letter.

I got fat!

Look when it comes to building muscle there is an “Optimal Calorie Range”. Where you can build quality muscle and even lose fat. But the key isn’t to just bail more calories. The key is to get the RIGHT calories at the RIGHT TIMES!

This can separate you from being big and fat, to being LEAN & MUSCULAR!

Muscle Building Nutrition Mistake #4: Relying on Supplements & Protein Powders

Let me be very clear on something. I am a “Supplement Guy”. I LOVE SUPPLEMENTS! Always have and always will, I am proud of this. It’s my business and my passion, BUT Supplements are meant to add that 10-20% extra, they aren’t meant to replace GOOD NUTRITION.

I have been saying this to my customers and clients for years now and I will always say it!

Supplements are just that, SUPPLEMENTS!

There are lot’s of supplements that work, but also remember there are LOTS of Supplements that are junk! It is always best to spend money first on Quality Nutrition and then add in the Supplements that are needed.

Without a good nutritional base you are doomed to fail. The newest pre workout or product of the month will NOT help you Build Muscle UNLESS Your Nutrition bases are covered.

Muscle Building Nutrition Mistake #5: You Must Eat Every Three Hours

This is going to go against everything you read in ALL the Muscle Magazines. The myth that you need to eat every 3 hours to build muscle.

Yes eating every three hours can help, but it isn’t essential, and honestly it’s a big pain in the butt! This concept was actually created by one of the top Supplement Guru’s to sell Meal Replacement Shakes (Genius concept all the same).

Eating frequently does work, but it isn’t essential. I will actually show you how FASTING will actually help you BUILD MUSCLE (Blasphemy I know). In my book I will teach you how STRUCTURED FASTING periods will help you Build Muscle AND Lose Fat!

Eating Every 3-4 Hours Isn’t Nearly as Important
As WHAT you EAT and WHEN You Eat It!

Muscle Building Nutrition Mistake #6: Low Fat Diets Are The Best For Staying Lean & Building Muscle

This has to be one of the biggest myths in Nutrition today. Fats are ESSENTIAL for Building Muscle! Yes fat.

Good fats impact hormones in your body, which plays a huge role in Building Muscle & Losing Fat. Get the right balance of fats in your body and the following things happen:

Body Fat Disappears (no joke)
Reduced Joint Pain
Reduced Inflammation
Improved Memory, Concentration & Mood
Improved Testosterone Levels (this is crucial in building muscle)
Cholesterol Improves
Hunger Stabilizes
Low fat diets work, but it isn’t optimal! Anyone can get lean eating egg whites and cans of tuna. But you can’t LIVE THIS WAY!

Muscle Building Nutrition Mistake #7: Low Carb Diets Work

Here is the deal, low carb diets don’t work. It’s a “band-aid on a bleeding wound” type solution. We live in a society loaded with Carbohydrate foods, go too long without them and you will get the worst cravings ever. How do I know? Because I have done Atkins & Ketogenic diets, I know how they work and I know how hard they are.

Aside from Keto diets being hard, they SUCK at building Muscle! Who wants to be lean and look like skin & bones! We are talking about Building Muscle here, and Carbs are NEEDED to build Muscle!

I will tell you the BEST Type of Carbohydrates to eat & even more important than the type, is WHEN TO EAT THEM. Imagine eating things like Cereals & Fruits at certain times to help Build Muscle & Lose Fat!

I hope you enjoyed this blog post. If you liked this I suggest you check out my Muscle Building Nutrition Program.

It’s only $19.95!

Why such a low cost? Because I feel with digital products they shouldn’t cost as much (or more) as getting a physical book! So I made the price as low as possible so that everyone can afford it and benefit from it.

This a guest blog post by my good friend Dan Go on Intermittent Fasting.

Hope you enjoy it!

————————————————————————————————————–

Hey there…hope you are doing awesome.

Please allow me to formally introduce myself…my name is Dan Go aka. The Fat Loss Ninja and I truly appreciate Rob for giving me the opportunity to talk to you today.

I first met Rob when we were in California and then we were able to hang a little more in Vegas for our quarterly mastermind meetings we do with none other than Craig Ballantyne of Turbulence Training.

I’m the “odd” lookin asian dude on the left.

What I realized about Rob after spending two weekends hanging with him is…

a) He’s awesome. If I had a brutha who was a bald white dude that came from Newfoundland…he’d be that guy.

b) He knows his sh*t. I can’t tell you how many times I found myself taking notes when he was dropping knowledge bombs on my punk ass…

c) He loves to have a good time just like myself…

I won’t get into all the trouble we got into Vegas (there was a lot…especially that last night at XS…which I won’t get into because what happens in Vegas..well you know)…although there was this one time an alien was trying to get fresh with Rob and took advantage of the poor fella…

Look at his alien hands molesting my good friend…

So I brought out my Ninja skills and taught that alien a lesson he’ll never forget…

Hiyyyyyaaaaa!

No one messes with my Canadian bruthas..ESPECIALLY creepy aliens.

All joking aside…Rob and I really got to share a lot of ideas down in Vegas…one of which was the idea of Intermittent Fasting being used as a tool for fat loss.

Now when people hear the word “Fasting”…they tend get a little creeped out.

I can’t blame them.

When I first learned about Fasting, I thought that if I didn’t eat every two hours my metabolism would start slowing down, everything I ate would turn to fat and I would turn into the fat high school kid I once was…

…I couldn’t be more wrong.

Here are a couple of myths I had to get over when I first tried fasting was:

- Not eating frequently would destroy my metabolism. WRONG.- Fasting would make me cranky and leave me with no energy. WRONG.- My body would start looking like a malnourished Kenyan marathon runner. WRONG.

Not the “look” I’m going for…

So I did what I always do…I researched to find the truth.

The research I found astounded me…

“Intermittent Fasting” is the fastest and easiest way to rapidly melt fat off your body and also delay the aging process significantly by naturally releasing a hormone in your body celebs pay thousands of dollars for.

How’s that for major benefits?

And on top of that your metabolism will still be burning fat at the same rate.

There is this HUGE lie in the fitness industry where you have to eat 5-6 meals frequently to burn elevate your metabolism and burn fat. <— This has been proven to be false.

Let’s get one thing straight: To elevate metabolism you must exercise (resistance training) and get more lean body mass on your body (muscle).

Eating frequently and types of foods have nothing to do with it.

I won’t get too much into this lie because it just makes my ninja blood boil…we’ll just talk about the benefits of fasting today…

Now there are two ways that you can fast:

1) Do a 24 hour fast. This is where you abstain from foods for a full 24 hours.

2) Do a 16-8 IF (Intermittent Fast). There is where you’ll do a daily 16 hour fast between the time you sleep to the time you wake up. So if your last meal is at 8pm, your first meal of the day would be at 12pm the next day.

I employ both methods with my clients with great success. If fact, I just got a message from a boot camp client who recently lost 10 lbs in ONLY 2 weeks…

This was done in ONLY 2 weeks

If You Could Push a Single Button and Fat Automatically Start Dropping From Your Body and Make You Look Younger…When Would You Stop Using It?

This is exactly what Intermittent Fasting does.

Now there are a lot of lies and myths regarding Fasting that I won’t get into right now.

If Rob thinks this blog post helped you out then maybe I’ll come back and talk about those another time.

For now I have tons of reasons for you to do Intermittent Fasting…all of which have to do with your rapidly burning a ton of fat from your body…and delay the aging process.

Top 7 Reasons to do Intermittent Fasting For Faster Fat Loss

1. Reduced Glucose/Sugar Levels During a fast your blood sugar levels slowly lowers itself. By fasting you could decrease your sugar input by anywhere from 15 – 30%. This means that…

2. Decreased Insulin sensitivity When you have more insulin sensitivity your body stores more fat as energy. Fasting drastically lowers your insulin sensitivity and also helps your lose more water retention. This means you will look leaner with less fat and less water on your body.

3. Increased lipolysis and fat oxidation This means one thing and one thing only…YOU BURN MORE FAT at a faster pace.

4. Increased Glucagon. Glucagon is one of the dominant hormones in your body responsible for Fat burning. Fasting increases the amount of glucagon produced in your body. This means you have one more tool to burn more fat.

5. Fasting Increases Growth Hormone which leads to increased fat loss and also slows down the aging process You are able to produce Growth Hormone by up to 6x with short term fasting. Now Ladies do not be scared of growth hormone. It’s the main of the hormones responsible for increased fat loss as well as looking younger.

6. Fastest way to eliminate waste from the body and lower inflammation. Short term fasting actually helps you eliminate waste in your body and can speed up the healing process. The research is too early to tell but there has been evidence to support short term fasting in prevention of asthma and cancer.

7. It’s the Easiest way to lose fat PERIOD. If you want to lose fat and you want to do it as fast as possible then IF is the way to go. Not only is it fast (no pun intended)…it’s EASY. All of the reasons you see above are all tools to help enhance your fat loss results. Add onto the fact that you are literally burning 2000-3000 calories in one sitting during a 24 hour fast makes this almost a no-brainer to incorporate into every fat loss program at least once a week.I realize that even after reading this you may be a little apprehensive to try fasting out…I can’t blame you because when I first found out about it…I was pretty skeptical.

So I would suggest doing your own research regarding fasting.

You can start here with Brad Pilon’s Book Eat Stop Eat.

It’s on my required reading for anyone who has ever been on a “Diet”.

For now, I hope I have opened your eyes a little to one of the most effective fat loss tools known to man that doesn’t require you to pop a pill or buy some ridiculously expensive supplement.

If you are still on the fence then the only thing I could say is…don’t knock it until you’ve tried it.

Thanks for reading this blog post. I hope you got value out of what we talked about today. I’d love to hear from you in the comments section so please leave a comment below.

The average American can of Coke is 10.91% high fructose corn syrup. That is 45g of sugar, same as 8 tsp of sugar.

If you aren’t familiar with high fructose corn syrup it is pretty much some of the worst crap you can put in your body.

So lets be straight that this sh*t is pretty bad for you, yet people are addicted to it. This is a legal addiction allowed because of profits (I am all for addiction, I just don’t like who controls what is ok and what is not).

I just had a client do one of my programs and he told me he used to drink 6 cans of pepsi a day.

6 CANS A DAY!

That is an addiction and it’s scary.

If you are serious about your health, fitness & your life this crap has no place in your life.

My advice and what I practice is to drink them sparingly. For me 1 can of cold diet pepsi in a can while dieting is awesome. I don’t drink more than one, but that one is amazing. Otherwise all I drink is Coffee, Water, Green Tea.

Tell me about your experiences with coke and soft drinks. Know anyone that was addicted or have any crazy stories to share with me.

Would love some feedback so feel free to comment below!
