5 Minute Deadlift Challenge Finisher
I posted this workout on my Facebook Coaching Page but I loved it so much that I wanted to share it here.
I am not a fan of “Cardio”.
I am not knocking it, but I prefer not to do elliptical and stair masters, I like lifting weights.
For me Cardio mean “Lift Weights Faster”.
Strength training done properly is an amazing way to do “cardio”.
If you think of cardio you think of machines, long periods of time, jogging, etc.
But if you think about it what exactly IS Cardio?
To me “Cardio” is anything that gets your heart rate up and gets you sweating.
I prefer to use the term “Conditioning” over cardio.
When I do my cardio I want to improve my “Condition” not just burn calories.
So to me Cardio/Conditioning should be workout that makes me better physically, improves how I move, builds strength, and also is mentally challenging., not doing exercise to burn calories.
A great way to do this is with a “Finisher”.
So in my class today I gave them a simple yet effective workout.
Pick a weight, deadlift it as many times as possible in 5 minutes.
Simple to do, but not easy to do.
At the end of the 5 minutes I added up the total weight lifted in 5 minutes.
It was very interesting to see the results.
You don’t need 30-60 minutes to do cardio. 5-10 minute strength or body weight finishers are very effective.
As well challenges like this will test you MENTALLY as much a physically.
We did another challenge similar which was a 5 minute Trap Bar Challenge you can read more about it here on my blog => www.robkingfitness.com/workouts/5-minute-trap-bar-challenge-finisher/.
