When it comes to improving overall strength, keeping your back strong, reducing your chance of a back injury, and even overcoming a back injury learning how to brace is very important.
I learned first hand the value of bracing from Dr. Stu McGill many years ago at a seminar in Arizona. It literally changed my life and allowed me to work through a very serious back injury (1 herniated disc and 3 bulging discs).
Along with minimizing chance of injury learning how to brace will make you immediately stronger.
If you want a stronger squat, deadlift or any strength exercise learning to brace will make you stronger.
As well for any sport being able to brace is important. If you play contact sports like football or Martial Arts you will need to learn how to take a hit and learning how to brace will prepare you for this.
In this video I will explain two types of bracing with and without a belt.
